This scheme aims
to provide Chinese students who demonstrate both academic excellence and
leadership potential with the opportunity to study for a DPhil at the
University of Oxford.
The scholarships
are supported jointly by the China Scholarship Council (on behalf of the
Chinese Ministry of Education) and the University of Oxford.
Eligibility
Candidates should
be applying to start a new DPhil course in any subject at the University of
Oxford. They must be Chinese nationals ordinarily resident in the mainland
Peoples' Republic of China (i.e. not Hong Kong or Macao), and must be intending
to return there after completing their studies.
Candidates must
demonstrate both academic excellence and the potential to become a leader in
their field, a decision-maker and opinion former within China. They must be
prepared to return home upon completion of their studies.
Scholarship
value
100% of
university and college fees, a grant for living expenses (the rate for 2012-13
is £12,900), and one return airfare (China-UK-China).
Awards are made
for the full duration of a student's fee liability for the agreed course. The
continuation of your scholarship each year is subject to an annual renewal
process based on satisfactory academic progress.
Scholarship
application
1) Apply at the
same time as you apply to Oxford by selecting China Scholarship Council -
University of Oxford Scholarships in the Funding Section of the University's
Graduate Application Form.
In order to be
considered for this scholarship, you must submit your application for graduate
study by the relevant January deadline, and you must have secured a place on
your chosen programme of study by the expected final decision date (13 March
2013). Applications with an outstanding admissions decision after this
date, or applications which are re-evaluated against the later March deadline
field, are not eligible for scholarship consideration.
If you do not
apply in full by the deadline, you will not be considered for the Scholarship,
even if you have selected China Scholarship Council - University of Oxford
Scholarships on the Graduate Application form.
Applicants who
are ‘re-routed’ (accepted onto a different programme of study to the one they
originally applied for e.g. transferred from an MPhil to a DPhil or from one
course to another) should contact us as soon as they are notified of the
change in order to ensure that their application for a scholarship is
maintained on their new programme of study.
2) You must
apply separately to the China Scholarship Council (CSC) for this scholarship.
Please see their scheme introduction and scholarship guidelines
before applying tothe CSC.
