The Vicky NoonEducational Foundation was established in 1992 by Lady Viqarunnissa
Noon to support scholars from Pakistan to study at leading universities in the
United Kingdom. The scholarships at Oxford are funded by the Foundation, the
University and a number of generous partners.
Applicants should
be Pakistani nationals ordinarily resident in Pakistan. Candidates who have
previously studied outside of Pakistan will not normally be considered.
Applicants must be planning to return to Pakistan after completing their
studies.
Awards are made
based on the following key criteria:
- Academic merit
- Financial need
- The potential social contribution made by the applicant on their return to Pakistan
Applicants must
be applying to start any course of study at the University, with the exception
of PGCert and PGDip courses.
The size and
duration of awards vary according to each scholar's circumstances. In recent
years these have ranged from partial awards (e.g. £3000) to fully funded
scholarships (all fees and living costs).
Graduates:
Apply at the same
time as you apply to Oxford by selecting Noon Educational Foundation in the
Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form.
In order to be
considered for this scholarship, you must submit your application for graduate
study by the relevant January deadline, and you must have secured a place on
your chosen programme of study by the expected final decision date (13 March
2013). Applications with an outstanding admissions decision after this
date, or applications which are re-evaluated against the later March deadline
field, are not eligible for scholarship consideration.
You must
also attach a short statement with your application setting out (in not more
than 200 words) how you intend to contribute to Pakistan on your return, and
how your studies in Oxford will help with this.
If you do not
apply in full by the deadline, you will not be considered for the scholarship,
even if you have selected Noon
Educational Foundation on the Graduate Application Form.
Applicants who
are ‘re-routed’ (accepted onto a different programme of study to the one they
originally applied for e.g. transferred from an MPhil to a DPhil or from one
course to another) should contact us as soon as they are notified of the
change in order to ensure that their application for a scholarship is
maintained on their new programme of study.
Undergraduates
You must apply to
UCAS and Oxford as described on the Undergraduate Admissions webpage by 15 October
2012.
You must also
complete the Application Form for Undergraduate Scholarships (UND_1314) and by
the application deadline in order for your application to be complete. It will
be available to download from this page at the end of 2012, and the deadline to
submit the Application Form for Undergraduate Scholarships is 12 noon on Friday
1 February 2013.
How
will I know if I have been successful?
Successful
candidates will be notified by email in Summer 2013. This webpage will be
updated to show when all decisions have been made. If you have not heard from
us by the time this notice is posted, then your application to this scheme has
been unsuccessful. Due to the volume of applications received, we are unable to
contact unsuccessful applicants individually or provide feedback on their
applications.
