Felix Scholarships, UK

The Felix Scholarships enable outstanding students to pursue graduate studies at the University of Oxford, the University of Reading and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (SOAS). Felix has been supporting students at Oxford since 1991.

The Scholarships are administered by the three partner universities, with the support of the Felix Trustees and their agents in London. The Felix scholarships now have their own website, which provides information on the Scholarships, and allows Felix alumni to stay in touch.

Am I eligible?

Candidates for Felix at Oxford should be applying to start any new full-time graduate course, with the exception of PGCert and PGDip courses, at the University. Applications from all subjects will be considered.
Applicants should be Indian nationals ordinarily resident in India, and have a first-class undergraduate or masters degree from an Indian university. They must be under the age of 30 on the 31st January 2013 and should be unable to take up their place at Oxford without financial assistance. Scholars are expected to return home after completing their studies.
People who already hold degrees from outside India are not eligible to apply (unless it was gained while in receipt of a Felix Scholarship).

What does it cover?

100% of university and college fees, a grant for living expenses (the grant for 2011-12 was £13,680), and flight (India-UK or UK-India) at the start and end of your course.
Awards are made for the full duration of a student's fee liability for the agreed course.  If your scholarship is offered for a course lasting more than one year, the continuation of your scholarship each year is subject to an annual renewal process based on satisfactory academic progress.

How do I apply?

Apply at the same time as you apply to Oxford by selecting Felix Scholarships in the Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form.

In order to be considered for this scholarship, you must submit your application for graduate study in full by the relevant January deadline, and you must have secured a place on your chosen programme of study by the expected final decision date (13 March 2013).  Applications with an outstanding admissions decision after this date, or applications which are re-evaluated against the later March deadline field, are not eligible for scholarship consideration.

Applicants who are ‘re-routed’ (accepted onto a different programme of study to the one they originally applied for e.g. transferred from an MPhil to a DPhil or from one course to another) should contactus as soon as they are notified of the change in order to ensure that their application for a scholarship is maintained on their new programme of study.

Please note that applicants to Oxford are no longer required to complete the separate Felix Scholarships application form (although applicants for Felix Scholarships at the other participating institutions will still need to complete it).

Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed in India. It is expected that the interviews will take place in May 2013.

How will I know if I have been successful?

All candidates who have been shortlisted for interview will be contacted by email in April 2013. This website will be updated to confirm that all of the interviewees have been contacted.
Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to contact unsuccessful applicants individually or provide detailed feedback on applications.

Non-Indian Scholarship

One award is made each year to a student ordinarily resident in a developing country outside India. The selection criteria are based on those of the Felix Scholarships for Indian students.
You do not need to apply for the non-Indian scholarship directly, as all suitable applicants to the University will be considered automatically. There is no separate application form for this award.
